When a door closes on a life (Rest in Peace Pop)

When a door closes on a life (Rest in Peace Pop)

I was a kid when I met my future father in law. He was a fun loving guy with a ready smile and the ability to be as silly as the nearest kid to him. He laughed easy liked to tease and taunt like a kid but it was all out of love. As I heard the news of his sudden passing yesterday I thought immediately when was the last time I saw him or said I love you to him. The answer that came to both was I love you on the phone as we always said before we hung up and eating pizza in my living room a few short days ago. We used to go to the movies and he was the one who usually started the popcorn fight. His love of movies was something fun to share with him even when he got a bit older and would fall asleep he swore he saw the entire film. Just a moment and a little memory to honor someone who was special to many. He will be laid to his final rest over the next few days. Tears will be shed condolences shared with hugs and family, friends and others who knew him. Then we have the good times left to sustain us until what I believe in my heart that we will meet again one day in heaven. Rest in peace Pop, Joe as he was known by all. You will be missed.
